Grand Falls-Windsor – Today, North Atlantic joined the growing number of supporters for Lionel Kelland Hospice – the province’s first community-based hospice, with its contribution of $40,000.
Shelley Woolfrey, who leads the Every Moment Matters Campaign, welcomed the contribution. “We are pleased to have North Atlantic partner with us. This donation will have a lasting impact, ensuring that compassionate end of life care is available in a home-like setting when families need it.”
The President and CEO of North Atlantic, Ted Lomond, recently toured the Hospice and was impressed by the facility. “North Atlantic is honoured to be a part of this project and proud to make a donation to assist individuals in their most vulnerable and delicate moments. Lionel Kelland Hospice will provide families with the much-needed privacy, compassion and comfort they deserve.”
Lionel Kelland Hospice will offer 24/7 medical care for people at the end of life and support programs that meet the emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of residents and their families. Slated for completion later this Fall, the building has 10 private resident suites with spaces that enable families to be together as they journey with their loved ones during the last days of life. It will be a comfortable, nurturing environment with a kitchen, dining and living rooms, outdoor places and space for family members to stay overnight. Serving people of all ages and cultural backgrounds, the Hospice will offer both residential and community outreach programs.
