Wrapped In Love
Hospice Quilt Program
With the kind participation of generous quilters, each resident at Lionel Kelland Hospice will be provided with a handmade quilt. This program relies on the compassion and care of volunteers, who donate their time and energy to craft a quilt with love and warmth in every stitch. When a family’s loved one passes away, they may take the quilt home as a loving keepsake. Every quilt is a gift of love and offers invaluable comfort to residents in their final days and to their families as they grieve. We encourage everyone to get involved and join the program to support their community – so we may ensure this beautiful hospice tradition lasts!
Guidelines
The following information will give you some guidelines for creating quilts to be given to residents at Lionel Kelland Hospice.
Dimensions
The desired dimensions are 54in x 60in. This is larger than a lap quilt and not intended to be used as the main bed covering.
Designs
There is no set design that we prefer. For usage, 100% cotton is best for laundering and longevity. Feel free to get creative and have fun.
Labels or Tags
This is purely optional, although residents and their families will love to know where this beautiful gift has come from. If desired, we will provide a tag to be sewn on the underside corner of the quilt to state who has made the quilt.
We realize that making a quilt takes an incredible amount of your time and has significant cost associated with completion of the quilt. Our goal is to offer a quilt to each resident who comes to the Hospice. We are grateful for every donated quilt.
