Volunteer at Lionel Kelland Hospice

Often referred to as the heart of hospice, our volunteers perform an important role. These kind and generous individuals give their time to ensure that care and support is available for individuals when they need it.

Our volunteers provide helping hands to those who need it the most. Whether it be through companionship as a listening ear, reading a book, or through our fundraising and special events, each volunteers opportunity has it’s own rewards! If you are a caring individual, volunteering at Lionel Kelland Hospice may be a life-changing experience for you, and the families you help.   • Greeting/Wayfinding – greet and assist new visitors find their way around our Hospice.
  • Special Events – assist in organizing community engagement events.
  • Fundraising – provide help with fundraising events and activities. As a not-for-profit, fundraising is required to support our continued efforts in providing excellence in palliative care.
  • Gardening and Indoor Plant Care – assist in beautifying our property inside and out.
  • Baking – assist in baking treats for our residents and their families to enjoy.
  • Grief and Bereavement Facilitator – assist in leading peer group sessions for our grief and bereavement program.
  • Companionship – assistance focused on the comfort and non-medical support of the residents and their families, such as reading to residents, or simply having a conversation with them.
  • Complementary Therapy – allows us to offer specialized services to residents and families. Examples include Hair Stylists/Barbers, Yoga Instructors, and Massage Therapists. Volunteers who wish to offer these services must provide proof of certification.
