Great strides have been made as construction continues to move forward on the Lionel Kelland Hospice.
Construction, which began in April 2022, is on schedule and the majority of the structural, mechanical and electrical work is completed. Over the next month, installation of the facility’s elevators, which are currently on site, should take place. Bathrooms and flooring will begin to be installed over the coming weeks and painting has already begun.
Residents passing the St. Catherine Street site will notice that much of the exterior work has been done, including installation of the siding and composite paneling. The contractors are expecting the final glass installations to take place soon.
Once completed, the hospice will be a modern, fully-equipped, 2,430 square metre residence designed to meet the care needs of people at the end of life.
The building will feature 10 private resident suites and spaces that enable families to be supported as they journey with their loved ones during the last days and moments of life.
The construction of the Hospice is being carried out by Burnt Bay Construction Ltd., working with designers, Fougere Menchenton Architecture. It is thanks to the generous support from individuals, organizations, businesses, and government that the Lionel Kelland Hospice will open its doors in late Spring 2023.
